Spirulina, which is a type of microscopic blue-green algae, gained popularity as a dietary supplement due to its high content of vitamins and minerals. It also represents a valuable source of protein, since it contains more of this nutrient than meat and soy combined.

What is spirulina. Well, it's an algae and it's a complete protein that's high in B12 and Beta Carotene, some of the health benefits include;
• Boosts the immune system
• Natural detoxifier
• Helps to control appetite
• Reduces Inflammation
• Hair, Skin & Nails
• Great for reducing symptoms of allergies
Spirulina is a fantastic, fantastic thing. Its very protein and nutrient rich as well as being great for vegetarians. Spirulina is able to offer our bodies a brilliant source of slow release energy. This is one of my favourite super foods; a super food is a food that's packed full of all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs plus more. This is called spirulina, it comes from a blue, green algae that can be found all over the world and it's just packed full of vitamin B complex which is really important for your body. Spirulina is also a great source of vitamin E which is good for your skin, hair and nails also manganese, selenium & chlorophyll which helps to boost energy levels.
When looking for quality utilizable protein, Spirulina and Chorella are at the top of the list. Animal based proteins are only about 20% utilizable verses Spirulina and Chorella which are about 60%.
It's very low in calories, in one gram on Spirulina there are only 4 calories as compared to beef where you would find around 40 calories. Spirulina is also very rich in Omega-3 fatty acids, it contains GLA (the important acid in breast milk that helps to develop the baby.) It also helps to regulate your blood sugar and insulin levels. Another great thing about this is that it destroys viruses and bacteria in your body, as well as funguses like Candida. Candida is what causes yeast infections and sometimes if you're really obese Candida can prevent you from loosing weight.
So I've been taking this for about a year and a half to two years and I really noticed the difference right away when I started putting this stuff in my protein shakes. I had a ton more energy and just felt really good. When your body is deficient in vitamins you can feel really run down and tired, when you start putting good things back in your body you can really notice the difference. Also the really good thing about this is that you don't have to worry about taking a ton of different vitamins, you can just take this one thing and your basically getting everything your body needs in one go.
Before you start any new vitamin or diet change it's a good Idea to speak with a health care professional to make sure it's safe and going to work for you.
